My Philippine Family

Not too many have seen me and my Philippine family in one picture. It's because, for the first time in 45 years, ALL of us, 5 siblings are finally back together during my recent visit to our hometown last month. To all those who do not know, my Dad (God bless his soul) and Mom separated when I was 5 years old. Since then, my Mom took me (being the baby in the family) to Manila along with my other sister, Aida, while the rest stayed with my Dad or other relatives. Then, my eldest sister went abroad since 1977, got married to an American-German, while I lived most of my life in the city. When I came to New York City in 1991, all the more that we never really got together with a perfect attendance. It took Erma's wedding to bring us all together, again. Alas! our Dad passed away in 1994. Shown in the picture from right to left (top) Kim, (Erma's niece and flower girl), my eldest brother, Matt, my eldest sister, Tessie, the 3rd eldest, Johnny. Then second row, from left to right, my other sister, Aida, my Mom, and myself. The reason why I wrote them in that order is to show you my siblings from the eldest to youngest. You can see that my Big Bro Matt, who is 60 years old, looks younger than Ate Tess and Bro Johnny. He knows how to take care of issues without worrying too much.

I just thought I'd introduce to you my family. This picture was taken at my sister Aida's home last October 29th, 2010. My Mom is now 76 years old, but she looks older because she suffered stroke the same year that my dad passed away. She is also slowly losing her memory. I just hope that she lives longer and healthier. This is how simple life is in the province, a far cry from the life in the city.

This is the first pic I've seen teh whole family together.
Nice.

It's understandable when there's an age gap in between the family members who live in different countries and with various commitments.

within each one of us, and let it begin with me (and each one of us)..one breath at a time.
