Saw this car sticker this morning. I didn't make this one... lol.

Older people don't get accident...they cause them!

Obviously, this sticker is on the car bumper of a young guy who runs 55mph in a 25mph.

a hard boiled egg's story...

My tummy was making noises before going to bed last night. I was hungry. So sure that it would not let me sleep, I made a quick food search in the kitchen. I know it's not a good idea (to eat just a few minutes before bedtime) so I thought I would just eat something lighter. I ended up with an egg I hard boiled two days earlier (and has been sitting inside the fridge for 2 days), took it out from it's shell and warmed it up in the microwave oven for a minute. When I heard the microwave's "beep, beep" sound, I got the egg out and made my first bite. Alas! The just reheated egg exploded! I screamed--- not because I was hurt but because I was startled. The egg white and yolk were all over my face and in between my lashes. There were also bits of them on my oversize sleeping shirt and all over my hair. All over the floor, too. What a mess a small egg can do!

I found myself rushing into the shower and I let the warm water washed the bits of the egg and my hunger away. Luckily, it worked! I leaped out of the bathroom not hungry at all, with no traces of the hard boiled egg except for the mildly burned tip of my tongue.

I've intentionally limited my time on line lately. It was to punish myself for missing two job opportunities while I was using our phone line to have access to internet (ours is still the "inconvenient" dial up connection).

I was stupid to have been assuming that these prospective employers of mine would not contact me during lunch time. And I thought that going on line during this one hour office break was not a bad idea at all. Why not? Everybody seems to be having their lunch. But I was very wrong. These two employers both tried to call me on the same day, around lunch time, while I was on line. (lunch time is one of my 3x a day sched to check my business & personal mail since I started looking for a job. first is early morning and the other one is before bedtime). When they could not reach me, the first employer decided to contact the next qualified applicant and gave the job to her. The other one was obviously pissed that she told me to always leave my line of communication open. Ok, they both have their points. Time is precious and they just could not wait for me. What made me felt bad was they did not bother to contact me through e-mail or cellphone. Now I wonder what's their purpose of getting them from me. Anyway, I was not in the position to question them. It was all my fault. I just consoled myself with the outworn expressions "it was not meant for me" and "a much better job will come along at the right time."

There's one good thing this taught me... a golden lesson I've learned: DON'T ASSUME. We have to be prepared...always. We have to be ready...all the time! Like love and death, the opportunity or the person that we have been waiting for (might) come when we least expect them.

yes...i'm an addict... a certified squid ball addict!

i went to an asian store yesterday and bought a basketful of food. it's been a while since i last indulged myself with asian food. the store is almost 40 mins drive one way so i thought i would make the most of my trip. i bought string beans, pancit canton, mongo, ampalaya, rice noodles, a few bottles of knorr seasoning, dried sapsap, 2 bags of chippy, rice, squid balls, squid balls and more squid balls! it is one of the things that i will never ever forget to buy. it's always on my urgent list. yummy!

on my way home, i could not help but think about how i would fry the squid balls and how my "sawsawan" is going to be. it was not long after a light dinner that i made my mixture of vinegar, soy sauce, onion, garlic and other stuff (so yummy!) while the squid balls suffered from the heat of the oiled frying pan. well, i was not surprised anymore when i ate almost 2 pounds of them in one sitting (can't blame me, i've been starving for months!) while watching "must love dogs" for the nth time.

oh, by the way, "must love dogs" is a very cute movie about a divorced woman who tried internet dating and....hmmm...i'll better discuss this in another blog later..lol.
