UNDEAD AND UNEMPLOYED

Last book I read...

I'm not fond of reading gothic novels (sorry Stephen King and Anne Rice) that's why I don't like watching horror films and rarely borrow books about draculas, vampires or zombies. But when I saw a book written by one Mary Janice Davidson in the school library where I work, a PARANORMAL ROMANCE, I got curious and thought it must be like an X-FILES--Mulder/Dana series.

So I borrowed UNDEAD AND UNEMPLOYED---the one and only book by Mary Janice Davidson in the SSI LRC. I was kind of disappointed when, as I read, learn it's about vampires but decided to finish anyways. Well...the end outcome? I was laughing out loud---the book was very far from being creepy! It was hilarious...a comedy!!

Who has heard of a vampire--a Queen vampire--who's so addicted by designer shoes you can bribe her with it? Who goes to an AA meeting because she decided to swore off drinking for her 31st birthday (only in her case it's blood!)? And who's afraid of a zombie (unfortunately for her because one was hiding in her mansion's attic)?

Together with her destined vampire king and friends---humans and undead alike (that's what they like to call themselves--undead)--they were a riot! You will really get a good laugh--as I did--while reading her books. I even looked for her other books and read some: UNDEAD AND UNAPPRECIATED and UNDEAD AND UNPOPULAR--so technically, the last book I read was UNDEAD AND UNPOPULAR.

Oh, by the way, I'll recommend to our head librarian to have these books (in case they buy more of Davidson) transferred from HS shelves to TR shelves. I don't recommend them for a high schooler--lots of swearing and some erotic blood sucking scenes--although these scenes are pretty ordinary on MTV's nowadays. But still...NOT in SSI!!!

How about you guys? What's the last good book you've read? Come on..share!!

Waaaahhh... I just got notice this morning from our principal that I will be transferred to grade school department come this June. I feel so sad leaving preschool. I will miss all the chicken dances, animal boogie and listen to the water singing and dancing with the small . They say I'm to handle grades 3 and 4. Well, good luck to me!

I don't know why I like this song... Perhaps because of its meaningful content. Pretty appropriate for all the broken hearted.

SOMEDAY (by Nina)
Someday you'll gonna realize
One day you'll see this through my eyes
By then I won't even be there
I'll be happy somewhere
Even if I can't

I know you don't really see my worth
You think you're the last guy on earth
Well I've got news for you
I know I'm not that strong
But it won't take long
Won't take long...cause...

CHORUS:
Someday someone's gonna love me
The way I wanted you to need me
Someday someone's gonna take your place
One day I'll forget about you
You'll see I won't even miss you
Someday...someday...

But now I know you can tell
I'm down and I'm not doin' well
But one day these tears,
They will all undry
I won't have to cry,
Sweet goodbye...cause...

(REPEAT CHORUS EXCEPT LAST LINE)

Someday...I know someone's gonna be there

(REPEAT CHORUS)

That's me on the podium.

We just had our moving-up (graduation) exercises for prep last March 21. This ends the school year for us and our . I'm so happy with what we have accomplished these past 10 months and this is due to our new preschool head teacher who's been so supportive to us.

Hope this coming school year will be fruitful as this school year! Good luck to the batch 06-07 in their grade school forray!

Unwinding Time

I had a great time unwinding a little at the Enchanted Kingdom in Sta. Rosa, Laguna (the Disneyland version of the Philippines)with my youngest brother and close friend (almost sister), Lilia.

I have always been an adventurous person and that day, while most of the Filipinos were watching at home cheering for Manny Pacquiao who is having his fight with Eric Morales at that time in Las Vegas, I was screaming my head off on the dizzying rides. It's worth it--even getting ourselves drenched on the log jam and rio grande rapids rides!

Draw and Describe Yourself

One of the guest speakers in the SWATT (Summer Workshop Activity Training for Teachers) I am attending gave us a half sheet of bond paper and asked us to draw something that will describe ourselves. Then write a brief explanation of our drawing.

It is easier to describe other people than your self, right? But then I remembered one positive influence in my professional life who once described me as a frog--not in the looks department but in the ability to cope up or adjust in my working environment. So, I tried to draw a frog, which looked more like a lizzard to me..hahaha! What can I say? I lack the spatial intelligence others have. One thing I learned from the activity was that I need to polish my spatial/artistry area

COMMITMENT OF A TEACHER LEADER

I, ABBIE, commit myself today
to becoming a TEACHER LEADER,

I recognize that becoming a success as a leader is a process.
I will discover myself and do what I can to...
...know my purpose in life,
...grow to reach my maximum potential, and
...sow seeds that benefit others.

Although the road may get bumpy, and it may require me to learn a new way of looking at life,
or looking at others, I will do what it takes and will persevere.

I will take the success journey to be a TEACHER LEADER.

I pledge myself to make a difference in the lives of the TEACHERS and STUDENTS.

FALLIN

I mentioned before that I like this latest song of Janno Gibbs, "Fallin". So, for all the FULL HOUSE fans, here goes... ')

"FALLIN"

Ooh yeah
Yeah yeah

Our little conversations had turned in into little sweet sensations
And they're only getting sweeter every time
Our friendly get-togethers had turned in into visions of forever
If i just believe this foolish heart of mine

Refrain
I can't pretend that i'm just a friend
'cause i'm thinkin' maybe we were meant to be

Chorus
I think i'm fallin', fallin' in love with you
And i don't, i don't know what to do
I'm afraid you'll turn away
But i'll say it anyway
I think i'm fallin' for you
I'm fallin' for you

Whenever were together, i'm wishin' that goodbyes would turn to never
'cause with you is where i always wanna be
Whenever right beside you, all i really wanna do is hold you
No one else but you has meant this much to me

Refrain
I can't pretend (no) that i'm just a friend (i'm just a friend)
'cause i'm thinking maybe we were meant to be

Chorus
I think i'm fallin', fallin' in love with you (i)
And i don't, i don't know what to do (yeah, yeah)
I'm afraid you'll turn away (i'm afraid you'll turn away)
But i'll say it anyway (anyway)

I think i'm fallin', fallin' in love with you (i think i'm fallin')
And i don't, i don't know what to do (and i don't know what to do)
I'm afraid you'll turn away (i'm afraid you'll turn away)
But i'll say it anyway (anyway)
I think i'm fallin' for you
I'm fallin' for you

Coda
I'm fallin', i'm fallin' for you
I'm fallin', fallin' for you
And i don't know what to do, yeah yeah
Fall, i'm fallin' for you

ONLY A TEACHER

ONLY A TEACHER
Dr. Ivan Fitzwater

I am a teacher!

What I do and say is being absorbed by young minds,
who will echo these images across the ages.

My lessons will be immortal, affecting people yet unborn, people I will never see or know.

The future of the world is in my
classroom today and this future has
potential for both good or bad.

The pliable minds of tomorrow's leaders
will be molded either artistically or
grotesquely by what I do.

Several future presidents are learning
from me today; so are all the
so-called ordinary people who will
make the decisions in a democracy.

I must never forget these same young
people could the thieves and
murderers of the future.

Just a teacher?

Thank God I have a calling to the
greatest profession of all I must be
vigilant every day lest I lose one fragile
opportunity to improve tomorrow.

*I'll keep this very insightful poem to my heart now that I am what others perceive as ONLY a teacher (",)

Yesterday, I was finally interviewed by the president & owner of the school where I work and received his approval about my teaching in the Pre-School Department. Even had my contract signing. As of June 2005, I'm officially a Prep Teacher (",)

Now the challenge I have to face is this: To teach young minds without losing my own...hehehe...

Well, this is Teacher Abbie signing out...
