The Colors Of Friendship
Adrain Iron Thunder

Once upon a time the colors of the world started to quarrel. All claimed that they were the best. The most important. The most useful. The most beautiful. The favorite.

Green said:

"Clearly I am the most important. I am the sign of life and of hope. I was chosen for grass, trees and leaves. Without me, all animals would die. Look over the countryside and you will see that I am in the majority."

Blue interrupted:

"You only think about the earth, but consider the sky and the sea. It is the water that is the basis of life and drawn up by the clouds from the deep sea. The sky gives space and peace and serenity. Without my peace, you would all be nothing."

Yellow chuckled:

"You are all so serious. I bring laughter, gaiety, and warmth into the world. The sun is yellow, the moon is yellow, the stars are yellow. Every time you look at a sunflower, the whole world starts to smile. Without me there would be no fun."

Orange started next to blow her trumpet:

"I am the color of health and strength. I may be scarce, but I am precious for I serve the needs of human life. I carry the most important vitamins. Think of carrots, pumpkins, oranges, mangoes, and papayas. I don't hang around all the time, but when I fill the sky at sunrise or sunset, my beauty is so striking that no one gives another thought to any of you."

Red could stand it no longer he shouted out:

"I am the ruler of all of you. I am blood - life's blood! I am the color of danger and of bravery. I am willing to fight for a cause. I bring fire into the blood. Without me, the earth would be as empty as the moon. I am the color of passion and of love, the red rose, the poinsettia and the poppy."

Purple rose up to his full height:

He was very tall and spoke with great pomp: "I am the color of royalty and power. Kings, chiefs, and bishops have always chosen me for I am the sign of authority and wisdom. People do not question me! They listen and obey."

Finally Indigo spoke, much more quietly than all the others, but with just as much determination:

"Think of me. I am the color of silence. You hardly notice me, but without me you all become superficial. I represent thought and reflection, twilight and deep water. You need me for balance and contrast, for prayer and inner peace."

And so the colors went on boasting, each convinced of his or her own superiority. Their quarreling became louder and louder. Suddenly there was a startling flash of bright lightening, thunder rolled and boomed. Rain started to pour down relentlessly. The colors crouched down in fear, drawing close to one another for comfort.

In the midst of the clamor, rain began to speak:
"You foolish colors, fighting amongst yourselves, each trying to dominate the rest. Don't you know that you were each made for a special purpose, unique and different? Join hands with one another and come to me."Doing as they were told, the colors united and joined
hands.

The rain continued:

"From now on, when it rains, each of you will stretch across the sky in a great bow of color as a reminder that you can all live in peace. The Rainbow is a sign of hope for tomorrow." And so, whenever a good rain washes the world, and a Rainbow appears in the sky, to let us remember to appreciate one another.

I was too tired these days. Been spending so much time in work and i feel stressed out. Nevertheless, i feel fulfilled especially when i know that i have helped a lot of people with my job. I got a commitment to the people i am serving and even if i feel tired and worn out at the end of the day, i am rewarded with something i won't forget. Whatever that is, is for me to know.

I haven't had the time to question God when things go wrong with me,
But I have the time to say a thanksgiving
prayer for every blessing He gives me...
I haven't had the time to listen to all
my neighbor's gossip who destroy other
people's lives but,
I have time to listen to my
for all the good and bad things
that come their way...
I haven't had the time to spend wasted hours
with my "amigas" playing mahjong
dahil magastos ang tumaya but,
I have the time to spend so much time with my mother when we play card games
dahil walang pustahan (pagkain lang!)I haven't had the time to cry over a lost loverbecause of his infidelity,
But i have time to be happy with someone who i know loves me more than i do...
I haven't had the time to get angry,
But i have all the time to love...
I haven't had the time to fret,
But i have time for patience...
I haven't had the time for anything negative,
But i always have time for everything good...

I've been trying to come up with a good topic to write about. However, no single idea comes to my mind. I don't know why but i tried to fill in the blank sheet before me hoping that i could create beautiful stories or a simple thought. I wanted so much to write something but it seems i am at a lost. Lost for an outline for a definite and concrete topic to discuss. I'm lost for creative words to picture out some points i'd like to emphasize. Thank goodness the inspiration i have with never left me. I know i could come up with something soon, so these are only some of the words i could write which are the only ones in my mind.

Discerning Ourselves

I have observed that we, people in general tend to worry about what other people think about us rather than what we think of ourselves. Thus, we put up a show to create a good impression. Funny, but we derived our self-esteem from the point of view of others rather than from our own point of view. Naturally, if we love ourselves it would be our own inference of our self that counts most, not that of others. Unfortunately, it’s not the case. We worry about “baka sabihin” or what others might say about us. Our lives are deterred with these fears, for it is, we all know, one cannot, as an old cliché goes, “always please everyone.” So much sweat and tears were shed that go with worrying about people’s dint about us. Perhaps because they approve or disapprove the kind of life we live or for whatever reason. But why, don’t we just ask ourselves, are we doing the right or wrong thing? Why should we fret when we have a good opinion of our self? Why break our head with that nerve-wracking thought of the people’s reaction created of us? If only most of us will shape our lives according to a certain fixed principle, where we set our words, thoughts and actions, would it really matter what others might think or perceive? Truthfully, if we have this sound principle, many would regard us well. What has been described above is just the other side of us. The other side, which does not require public opinion because that would be another tale to tell.
