Before the year ended last year, there was a spate of crimes committed by very young "criminals" -- from to homicide to murder. I can remember hearing about four different stories all in one day. The offenders' ages ranged from 14 -18 years old. I thought, "Where is our youth headed to?"
Early this week, news of children found dead were in the headlines. A five year old girl and killed was found wrapped in a bag. A 12-year old boy was burned to death by a drunk neighbor all because the boy was "makulit". Over the weekend, my son watched previous episodes of SOCO (Scene of the Crime Operatives), which I heard even if I was not directly watching. Most of the cases were of teenagers and killed--and most of the still at large at the time of airing the episodes.
Also sometime this week, a newborn baby in a green plastic bag was found hanging on a tree--alive, though (thank God)!! -- but suffereng from a severe case of blood infection. The baby is recovering in a semi-government hospital and being breastfed by other mothers in the maternity ward.
Jose Rizal must be turning in his grave. (The youth is the hope of the nation)

My name_withheld moments

I hurt my right elbow today and it reminded me of my other handle here, name_withheld, blogging for Elbow Room. As FFF oldtimers already know, name_withheld was "killed" during the Duck Tales era. I tried to search for it to see if it's still hanging out there in cyberspace and was I glad to see that it still is.
Going over my old posts, one post made me smile and I thought I'd share here again. I am copying the text here:
*** While thinking about the twin blog for my Knee-Jerk Reactions, I have contemplated about other possible blog titles. I did come up with Elbow Room and thought that if FFF ever messed up with profile availability again, I would probably be naming a third blog, "Achilles' Heel". I am obviously fixated in naming my blogs with reference to different parts of the human anatomy. I swear that if things get messed up again, I'll try another name, "Pain in the *ss" how's that for another title?
The original blogpost is here: blog titles in the queue and Elbow Room is here: name_withheld

It is nice to be back in my little FFF corner.
I am shying away from my other F life. I guess it wasn't a good idea to add everyone I knew in my fb network. It is such a circus to have people you work with, family members, acquaintances, etc all in one place. Although it is still nice to know what or where my former students are and have become, or what current students are doing. but sometimes it becomes too LOUD and it just creates visual noise (audio too if I watch all the videos posted).
I appreciate stories that warm the heart - people getting reunited with their families via fb posts that went viral, people finding happiness one way or another, stories of big and small victories, achievements, reasons to celebrate. etc. Even sad news of friends passing on or their friends and relatives passing on are to be appreciated if only for the importance of knowing -and being given the opportunity to express sympathy, mourn with them, or cry with them. But I could never and would never appreciate gory pictures depicting death, heinous crimes and over-all distasteful representation of anything. I wish people would be kinder to others who might react differently to what they claim to be "realities" of life.
So there....I retreat to my little corner here -- watch my friends interact, "listen" to what they are saying (and even to what they are not saying)...watch new faces and new pens write stories from far away.
Back here again... Spring cleaning my old archive of blogs...Picking up from where I left

She's halfway there!
Tired of looking for another hospital to work in after leaving the last one where she spent almost two years, she tried for a slot in the recruitment for new firefighters and thankfully passed the hoops to get into training.
Now two months into basic training, she took various courses in basic rescue, water survival, firefighting, medical first responder and had a taste of rappelling, getting up and down a tower without using the stairs/ladders, drowning (yeah, drowning )
She's also GOLF coy's biggest loser- starting off at 68 kgs, she's now down to 60 kgs.
A lot has changed. She now thinks that a rusty fire hydrant makes for a good garden centerpiece
That's my daughter -- a nurse and a firefighter!

pangit background - too bad i didn't get a chance to take a better pic. Next time I will ~~ come graduation day in July

I see several posts here about women's broken hearts because of men's "apparent" cheating/two-timing; thus the relationship fails.
What about a relationship that is bordering into failure because of the couple's difference in spiritual beliefs? - it is not just a difference in "religion" but an issue of faith.
Should it be reason to break up?

Who is GOD, in your heart, who is HE?
a self-help genie in times of emergency?
a vendo machine that dispenses soda and coffee?
drop in a coin push buttons, get some tea?
left to ourselves, we tend to SHRINK him
instead of magnifying and hold in high esteem
search our hearts are we at all cognizant?
Between Him and US who should be the servant?
We seek God for things things that would make us happy
seeking only our own happiness dear Brethren, is IDOLATRY
Maximize God draw near, come to him
begin entrusting, please stop controlling the one who CAN CONTROL everything

there's got to be more to life than this!

when you wonder if God is real when you doubt that HE exists when you look around you, doesn't it make you feel that there's got to be more to life than this?
once, an unbeliever said, "God, if you're real, reveal yourself to me" The answer is not in an apparition but in all the things that we can see
the Hubble space Telescope what great things can it make us see? a super high powered telescope allows us a peep of the universe with much greater capability
with a tiny peephole the size of a grain of sand looking at the universe like at arm's length from where you stand 1500 to 2000 galaxies, the astronomers found realize this: in one galaxy 50-100 billion stars abound
one tiny crack in the universe now we're seeing things we've never seen before faint and bright stars nearest and farthest what else could they be but a CREATOR'S creations galore!
a peephole the size of a grain of sand can you imagine if you could see a whole inch? OR see a whole foot or a whole mile stumped and struck by this revelation, you will flinch
This vast, awesome, orderly, structured, magnificent beyond Isn't there more than these? There's more to you than just flesh think: WHO MADE ALL THESE?
