Christmas is now gone,
With all the usual fun,
I see only its shadow,
Yes! That's how the story goes.
A few more days, then New Year,
Visit the church and confess,
Then bring out your fancy dress,
Its time to make a mess.
For some, its time for new resolutions,
For others, its time for new beginnings,
Or perhaps nothing changes,
Even in the face of new challenges.
Now Christmas has come and gone,
Yet right there in the corner,
I see the shadow of Christmas,
Lurking in the darkness,
Yes! That's how the story goes.

Ah, don't you see that Christmas is
more than opening up the gifts;
It's more than singing Christmas Carols
and rolling in big snow drifts.
It's a feeling that can stay
with you throughout each day, all year;
And all it takes is a loving heart.....
and a sensitive little tear....

Broken hearts, love's deceit,
pieces fall down to my feet.
Broken promises, love's a lie,
puddles form from tears I cry.
Broken dreams, love's illusion,
sorrowed cause of your intrusion.
Broken hope, love's a game,
doesn't last, ends the same.
Broken sleep, love's the cause,
digs at me with sharpened claws.
Broken spirit, love of sorrow,
stolen now is my tomorrow.
Broken life, love is lost,
Broken now and that's the cost.

During a recent bout with depression,
a friend of mine came to the rescue
and let me cry on his shoulder.
He got me through it all and told me he cares.
I really needed to know that someone cared.
To him, I say Thank you!
I could write for hours,
Use the finest words in Webster's,
Fill pages upon pages with verse -
Only two words are needed,
Two words are everything I want to say:
Thank you.
Two words, two syllables
So tiny,
In these words I say so many things -
You are very special,
Holding my hand when the world is too much,
Hugging me when I can not bear life:
Thank you.
I have shown you my heart of hearts,
The person inside I am afraid to reveal.
Your sweet words and sweet face,
Bringing me back from the edge,
All I can do is...

I've given it my all,
I have tried so many times.
I do everything I can,
But you never end up as mine.
What do I do wrong?
What gets in the way?
Why do your actions completely go
against what you say?
Why do you tell me you like me
when it is clearly not the case,
What hurts even more is that
you said it straight to my face.

I wish I could see

A thunderous silence
breaks through my thoughts.
What was once many great ideas
is now a triumph, lost.
Baffling words tumble through my mind.
Reflections of darkness hover.
A disturbing peacefulness beckons to me,
and inside myself, I take cover.
What would it be like to stay there forever?
To be lost in all my cares?
From the inside, looking out -
I cry silent tears.
