I consider this to be the Mother
of All Tear Jerker songs.
Elvis also did a very touching
rendition of this
in which he starts out
with a descriptive monologue
on how a man is dying
and he sees that his wife
has fallen asleep in the chair next to him..
and he dies without waking her..
after saying these words to her..
...softly...

I looked around,
and didn't notice anything.
until my heart stopped,
and my ears started drumming.
I looked at him,
he caught my eyes.
I was so amazed,
he got me by surprise.
I wanted to talk to him,
but my hands were shaking.
my feet wouldn't move,
and my stomach was aching.
He didn't stop staring,
as I didn't either.
I wanted to go,
I was so eager.
he came to me,
and asked my name.
i told him nice to meet you,
as he said the same.
I felt a connection,
his eyes on mine.
he knew how to have a good conversation,
I felt the chills up my spine.
as we laughed and chattered,
he kept looking at the time.
I was a little confused,
but kept drinking my wine.
It was getting dark,
he was amazing i'd say.
I was waiting for his number,
I wanted him to stay.
I said whats wrong,
he said nothing.
his head kept looking around,
I saw something.
she came in so beautiful,
as greater than life.
he grabbed her hand and said,
Id like to introduce you to my wife.
