A Lamborghini was on the street parallel to my car. The quite young and handsome driver of the car suddenly rolled the window down at the traffic light and casually threw tissues and garbage out of the window as if he were aiming it at a dustbin in the middle of the street.
The other day, on one of Kuwait's main roads, somebody driving a Mercedes 320 did the same thing. He was even driving at full speed when he tossed out his tissues and garbage, turning the street into a dustbin. Really! Money does not buy class. Class and manners have nothing to do with what car you drive and how much Money you have.

Yesterday, the Gulf Association of Press and Freedom of Media (GAPFM) denounced the proposed amendments on Kuwait's media laws. "Freedom of expression is guaranteed by the Constitution and the amendments would kill it," said GAPFM in a statement.

One by one the fishermen left for the night. One lonely fisherman was left. One fish shy of the daily limit, he continued to fish in the darkness.
Finally, his third salmon was on the line; and in a few moments, he would be able to go home. After landing the fish, he noticed the salmon had been snagged, not hooked, in the mouth. As he took the hook out of the side of the fish, he faced a moment of truth¹. Should he keep the fish? Should he put the fish back because it was not legally hooked? Who would know?

New Year's 'crusade 2010
The Kuwaiti government crack down on New Year's celebrations, banning all forms of partying in major hotels and social halls, and intensifying police presence on certain roads that witness traffic jams which are usually caused by young motorists.
The security campaign came in response to demands by conservative lawmakers to ban celebrations on the New Year's Eve. The Ministry of Interior has instructed hotels not to organize or hold parties, and warned them of severe consequences in case of failure to comply with the orders.

Pope Benedict XVI appeared back on form yesterday a day after he was roughly assaulted at St Peter's Basilica, urging tolerance towards migrants in his traditional Christmas message. "In the face of the exodus of all those who migrate from their homelands and are driven away by hunger, intolerance or environmental degradation," the Roman Catholic Church calls for "an attitude of acceptance and welcome," he said.
The spiritual leader of the world's 1.1 billion Roman Catholics said society remains "deeply marked by a severe economic crisis and "the painful wounds of war and conflict. The 82-year-old pontiff expressed his solidarity with "those affected by natural disasters and poverty." And he told Catholics to "abandon all logic of violence and revenge" and engage with "force" and "generosity" on "the path of peaceful coexistence.
