X rated POV

The rapid advancement of technology has made our life effortless and simple. Thanks to the Steves, the Bills, the Allans. the Roberts and so on. But I think this made us humans weaker in some ways or another. And at the forefront of this are our Personal Computers or laptops or tablets, or whatever device we can access the internet. And then there are the game consoles Wii PS4 XBox and the likes. These are just two (2) examples of how people slowly diminished their grasped towards the physical aspect of living life as it should be.

I am included in the Generation X - the risk takers, street smart, radical thinkers. Born at the onset of computer age. The streets were our source of information. Blood sweat and tears were a norm. The will to survive is at its highest. Then comes Generation Y or the Millennials at the height of technology boom. They have turn their living rooms into streets, sofas into swing sets, carpets into slides. They have successfully transform the face of playground into a virtual expanse. I have never heard of cyber bullying not until 5 or so years ago. Back in the days, we call it teasing. Either we breathe in the insults, and prove them wrong later, or fight back, and not just curl up in the corner as if the world has come to an end. The definition of 'PLAY TIME" has changed from going out to play street games (siyato, tumbang preso, taguan etc), to playing video games or facebook or tweeting, or chatting. I am not against forward technology for I do benefit from it also. Yes, we can reach out to more friends than ever before. Yes, we can take advantage of the vast information on the net. Yes, we can travel the world without leaving our seats. And we all love the gadgets handy and dandy.

But there's a need to have balance on how we embrace this so called future-culture. Educating the young minds to keep mind body and soul on equal footing. Just like us Generation X on how we slowly incorporate innovative technology into our everyday lives. It is up to us to provide the next generation the capability to adjust in proportion, what virtual is from reality. Arm them with our experiences. Let X be the silent savior of Y. Hoping these could be passed on to the next. And when all is said and done...lets oogy wawa everyone.

"We don't know when technology will lasts...eventually everything will turn to dust"

It is never my intent to discontent the imminent...

Great blog Ass_ungot. Being a baby boomer, I'm just lost with this new tech matter.. I just found out there is a pen that comes with a notebook where you can record a lecture or a meeting and write notes. To review a day later just press the line where you wrote the notes and voila you can hear the lecture again. Wish I had that when I was in college.

My point is that technology can help us make our lives easier. I'm not sure though how it will develop the personality of the new generation. My grandchildren behave very differently from the way we were raised. New technology seems to be their way in to succeed in their endeavors. But as we wanted our elders to understand us during our time we should allow the new generation to mesh into their own culture. They will make mistakes so did we during our time. And it's alright to do that as long as that experience make us do better.

As they always say. Experience is the best teacher as long as we recognize it as a stepping stone to get better. Now let me store this comment in my voice generator so I can listen to it later.

I'm a senior citizen . Don't expect me to remember anything

History repeats itself: The Age of Information is beginning to exhibit the same sociological and economic impacts of that of the Industrial Revolution. The computer age is said to be the primary influence for the drastic growth of many economies today – especially the third world economies. Similarly, the Industrial Revolution is attributed by history for the rise of the middle class in the western world.

On the not so fantastic side of their similarities, are your contentions and the many other drawbacks and criticisms on the impersonal nature of electronic communication.

My take on this is that history repeats itself, and really… I couldn’t be the least bothered.

Let us not forget the years that succeeded the Industrial Revolution was the period most writers speak of as the Romantic Period. Looking back, it was during these years that society became tired of the twizzles of modern machinery and machine-made products, and revisited the Middle Ages for inspiration. It was the age of the artistic, literary, and intellectual movement – a period associated with liberalism and radicalism. The birth of many great minds.

I have not the least doubt in the human race and its natural capacity to find its way back home. Every now and then mankind will find itself in the same place as we are today, but our nature will dictate that we are no machine… I am confident we will be able to rise above this as greater men. We’ve been there… and history always repeats itself.

I failed big time in History & Social Studies. Should have focused on these subjects intensely than Anatomy and the sciences. Your perspective is far more enlightening than what my thoughts have gathered. Thank you for educating us EV.

Simplify as we grasp technology. You seem to be very well adjusted to it. Thanks for sharing sunshiny.
