A ghost flies beneath the radar
of the public eye
His mother agonizes
Plucks a guitar, smiles as she sings
and in silence cries

A frozen corpse of a nameless refugee
washes downriver in the thaw
A fighter's life snuffed out seeking the dream of
a livable existence
is through death set free

Young supple bodies gyrate in the neon glow
of a Chinese border town
Is not the freedom promised
but is the life
to which now they're bound
