A REMINDER FROM MOTHER EARTH

Have you watched the news lately? Cyclone Nargis that killed almost 80,000 people in Myanmar and the 7.9 earthquake that killed many people in Sichuan, China. Cyclones and earthquakes are just two of the disastrous natural calamities we had experienced. There are typhoons, floods, volcanic eruptions, forest fires etc. These natural disasters have shook the lives of many people.

Here in the Philippines, the rainy season has started and soon typhoons will definitely be on the go! Who will forget the strong typhoons that hit the Philippines last year destroying houses and properties and killed many lives. And there was Mayon Volcano that brought great disaster in the Bicol region.

Those were just few of the many we have experienced. Have you ever thought that these disasters are getting worse? Well, I am probably exaggerating in a way but I can't help myself from worrying and thinking these as a "parusa" for our misdemeanors towards Mother Earth. Because of today's technology and every country's desire to be highly industrialized, we had forgotten and neglected our responsibilities towards Mother Earth.

These calamities are maybe ways of Mother Nature to remind us that we are living in her jurisdiction, so as inhabitants, we should be good stewards.

I love you - those three words have my life in them
