Sarcasm is an acquired taste. My first blog visitor would certainly agree with the statement and found it very hard to be naturally sarcastic to most fellow Pinoys without causing them a great deal of offence. IMHO, whether someone could handle sarcasm or not depends on whether s/he's had enough exposure to the use of sarcasm and distinguishing the difference between being overly sarcastic and good sarcasm. For instance, I haven't observed yet any real good Pinoy sarcastic jokers which suggests that sarcasm is not that well understood or liked in Filipino culture. Pls correct if you've observed otherwise. Whilst in Britain it's a common trait esp. amongst men and there are a number of very funny Brit jokers who uses good sarcasm such as Jimmy Carr, Jack Dee and Mark Lamarr to name a few. Sarcasm would actually make a decent and iffy/trivial topic discussion, but I've very few people to take on the subject without getting bullied for it. I for one have no problem with being sarcastic esp. when I can be too but it doesn't work very well online, so I'd be better steering clear of its use on written form. It's best used on a face to face basis in order to hear the sarcastic tone of the person (only if the persons know or automatically use the appropriate tone) and sparingly within the context of the situation. Oops more info than normal comment here.

trish darling you only have to use it to the right person, if called for and when rebuffing but never start it unless you are well prepared

i saw a railroad worker once when i was in high school -the railroad divides(?) the school main building from the mountain site- stabbed a japanese engineer in the middle of the day and calmly walked out from the scene never to be seen again. the reason? disagreement about the work. the man said to the people (who were watching that time) he made me feel ashame kasi
