maybe because it's so recognizeable
at some certain point in our life, could be sooner/later/present/future/past
there is/was a time that our heart really comes close (to) if not broken

Will the windows miss me
When I'm gone?
The walls?
The floor?
The white ceiling sky?
Those ever present witnesses
To every sob, scream, and sigh
The constant companions
Who've sung me to sleep
With murmurs of protection
And stability
The old, stained carpet
Whose feather soft depths
Have cushioned my falls,
Softened my footsteps,
And captured my tears without a sound
Of protest
The doors that hid me
No matter the reason
Kept sounds secret
So no one could condemn or question
My actions
Will the echoes still hold
Some memory of my voice?
And allow some piece of me
To live on in every sound
That the (4)walls reflect
And the carpet swallows up
Would it?
