Best Few-Second Movie

He's eleven weeks and a day old today. The last time I saw him, he was a mere dot with an obvious heartbeat but without the sound. It's amazing how fast he grows inside me. In exactly 1 month after that, he now sure does look like a human being.

I felt cold lying on that bed. I was never a fan of hospitals. No movement can be seen on the monitor except for the heartbeat. The fear of losing a third baby was so strong. The doctor mumbled words that didn't really mean much because, sometimes, the meanest things happen to good people. I was afraid of another mean thing to happen to me, or to my baby. That was all I cared about knowing, and only time can assure me of the answer I wanted to know.

I wasn't even looking at the screen much, but on the doctor's patient face as she moved the ultrasound stick about. My heartbeat seemed to go as fast as my baby's when I saw her face light up. "Hey, look. It's moving," she said as she turned the monitor to my view. And then I saw his hands move as if he was rubbing paper with both palms, as if he was washing his face, like a fly when it rubs its front legs together. Another turn of the stick, and I saw tiny feet. They looked like seaweed moving up and down, as if swayed by the current of the undersea, as if kicking.

At eleven weeks and one day, it is a complete human being. It was the most moving, the most overwhelming few-second movie I have ever seen in my entire life. It's been hours since I was at the hospital. And yet, my baby's picture on that screen is still fresh on my mind. So this is what people mean when they talk about mother's love. It gives you overwhelming happiness despite everything.

Thank you. It is a wonderful feeling. Congratulations to you, too. I wonder how men feel when they see their babies for the first time on screen...

Oh Janey, thanks! I wish you'd say stay slim. haha! I've gained weight, and I wish I will lose the pounds I gained (and will gain) after giving birth. But yes, I've never felt as healthy and loving.

Haha! I heard many first time dads feel that. My bf talked about babies all the time. But when I told him I'm pregnant, he was shocked, too. hehe.
