More Than A Dreaded Disease. They're Sick!

There was a very interesting story a while ago on television. It's about po*nography, and it was portrayed as a social problem that has a potential to become a huge open-ended difficulty in the Philippines.

The news reported that pirated CDs (each sells for PhP50.00) containing po*nograp*ic film clips of Filipino with foreign pedophiles were confiscated by authorities. The video footages that were shown in the news from hundreds upon hundreds of utterly squalid CDs, though made indistinct and fuzzy by the tv station, clearly indicated how these innocent are weak and helpless against their abusers.

There were other news that were equally interesting, but nothing knocked this one away from getting me infuriated. I've been an advocate of the Rights of the for a long time now with my group, and together with UNICEF, we believe that " have the right to be protected, to help meet their basic needs and to expand their opportunities to reach their full potential."

When we implemented the Share-A-Home-Adopt-A- six years ago, we all read the provisions and principles of the Convention on the Rights of the for us to thoroughly understand what we are doing and why we are doing it -- TO SAVE THE WORLD'S GREATEST NATURAL RESOURCE.

It is exactly stories like what I saw that made us in my group more committed to helping . Whatever projects that we are offered, as long as they involve and we feel we have enough time to help, we accept without reservation.

No one needs to be told, right? No one needs to be told that abuse of is a dreadful thing. Who in his right mind would physically and psychologically maltreat a ? Just who?

PICTURE THIS.
I got this one from Parry Aftab, an online journalist who is now committed to fighting ch*ld po*no*ra*hy, especially on the Internet.

"I clicked on the URL and was taken to a site with names of graphic images. No photos or text appeared other than lists of images, with names like susan4.gif, betsy2.gif, and tyler8.gif. I clicked on one of the hundreds of image links in the directory. An image of a slowly opened. It was a little brunette girl who was being graphically assaulted by an adult male. While all of her and his gen*tal*a were clearly visible, only her face was in the shot. His was hidden. You can understand why this is "my image," the one I will never forget -- the one that motivates me every day."

"The cameraman had her facing the camera. A flash or special lighting was clearly being used and shone in her face to illuminate the graphic assault. (When I recount this, I have problems looking anyone in the face.) The little girl was not only being painfully molested, she was forced to bear the additional humiliation of being filmed at the same time. Unable to stop the assault, she did the only thing she could do to protect herself: She shut her eyes."
<--- This case may not be in the Philippines, but for , is there going to be any difference in the agony and torture?

Sorry, this Blog is long again. I just feel so frustrated that in this country, our become preys, innocent targets of these UNINTELLIGENT, BRAINLESS, FOOLISH, INANE, ASININE, IMPRUDENT... I could go on and on... PEDOP**LES (may they be foreign or otherwise).

What they're doing is so sick. And if we allow them by shutting our eyes because we think help is nowhere to be found, we are worst than them. We are worst.

When i read your blog, i CRIED! and cried and cried.i saw similar case on TV a long time ago. some adult a 3 year old in the toilet burning her with a cigarette systematically. The girl was calling her mother for help and asking her mother why she doesn't want to come and get her. The ad that follows the scene says you can buy a kid for a price and she/he's yours to do what you wish. If the customer wish to torture the kid till the kid dies...then the price go up to millions depending how young the victim is. WHAT KIND OF WORLD WE LIVE IN? Come to think of it, it's not the world; IT4S THE PEOPLE. Keep up the good work and May HE always be with you.

It's so vile Ate PM that this goes on anywhere in the world. Well, I'm pleased to hear you're an advocate. How do you get involve in either UNICEF or the scheme SHARE-A-HOME-ADOPT-A-CHILD? I

Abuse or child porno?\b is about making money, lusting over the powerless, selfish pleasures, dominance etc. Men or women should not maltreat or abuse anyone because it's likely to make those who were abused become abusers later. They'll have a tainted view of life and it will make it very difficult for them in many ways. It's rare that victims rise above such detrimental circumstances.

within each one of us, and let it begin with me (and each one of us)..one breath at a time.

Sis, you are right, it's not the world. It's the people who live in this world. But not all of us are like these PEDOS... we can do something about it. Thank you for visiting my Blog

Hi, Jane -- thanks for visiting my Blog We belong to a worldwide organization called the Junior Chamber International Philippines (JCIP) or Jaycees. Our chapter or local organization management (LOM) under that is JCIP-Puerto Princesa Peacock. The Share-A-Home-Adopt-A-Child was a project I designed six years ago with my other colleagues in the LOM. We're all young female professionals in this group. Since then, we've been implementing the Share-A-Home project every year during December. In between months, we have other projects too for children.

You are right in what you said. But I always pray it's never too late to give them the help they need. Don't you just wish you have a big arm to hug all the children that suffer abuses across borders?

Thank you for being here

Hi, thank you for your comments. It's sad that this problem goes on anywhere in the world. Those who abuse children now because they've been abused themselves probably didn't get the right help and support in the past. We must not let this happen now to more children because of the tendency to become abusers themselves. We have to really open our eyes wide. See through the signs and give help where it is needed.

Thanks

Teng, those people will pay for their actions in some form, and they will have to live with the haunting memories of the pain and suffering they inflicted to all the babies they violate, or maybe they will suffer this fate behind prison bars. For me this tragic situation is beyond murder, the children are mentally scarred for life, the pain will never go away for them. This is the ugliest thing we face in our world i think.

Yes, it is, Tim. It's sad that this is happening. Just yesterday, it was reported that an elementary grader was ra*ed and killed by two suspected drug addicts. They were caught, and I hope they rot in jail.

Our society has several dreadful diseases which our people tolerate, pedoph*l*a only being one of them. Pardon me for being a bit off topic, but in connection to the issue posted, what really infuriates me is the reality that the government CAN NOT and WOULD NOT extinguish the piracy hub at Quiapo. I walk along the streets of Recto, as my job requires me to be there sometimes (unfortunately, I do patronize piracy in a way that I can only find hard-to-find cds/dvds there). I would see porno?\b cds scattered all over the place as if it's the most natural, most common thing. Seeing women and children being sold, especially in this manner makes me puke. And vendors of these cds pop like mushrooms everywhere in Manila, not to mention the walkways of MRT stations.

As long as those in power remain blind to this, our individual efforts will not bear too many good fruits.

Hey, sis I understand where your frustration is coming from. Partly, you are right in saying "as long as those in power remain blind to this, our individual efforts will not bear too many good fruits." But we shouldn't stop these individual efforts. We could pool them, link them with other groups, and cause them to eventually bring bountiful harvests re: this social malady.

Thanks for visiting my Blog It's so nice to read someone else's opinion about this.
